In Loving Memory...
Andris Grinbergs, owner and proprietor of Kristapsons, also much-loved father, stepfather, son, brother and husband passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26th 2015 in his 70th year of life.
Born in Germany to Latvian parents, Andris immigrated to the Utica area of New York State in the U.S.A. with his family in the 1950s. He was a talented violinist as a student, playing in a number of orchestras and winning awards and scholarships.
Andris served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and Germany. He worked in real estate in Florida before emigrating to Toronto in 1986 to help his uncle in the smoked salmon business. He soon took over Kristapsons Inc., which he ran for more than 25 years, significantly expanding the business and becoming involved with the local community. He was loved by his family, friends and employees, and is greatly missed.
Andris will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and sense of humor. He enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, golf, art, and good food with good people. Most of all he loved his family, his customers, and the joy that Kristapsons' smoked salmon brought them.
We, Evan Grinbergs and Alexis Fraser, will endeavor to continue Andris’ legacy of providing Kristapsons' loyal customers with the same quality of product, level of service and community support that they have expected and respected for the past 63 years.
